Environment Practice Begins!!!!!

OK, Im going to practice more landscape speed painting. This is an area I want to improve on most. So here is a referenced piece to get me started.

Go Banana!

Heh! Im taking part in another ConceptArt.org event. This is the Team Character of the Week #2. Its really actually a month but its usually a week long thing but this is a special event. The subjects are traditional high fantasy themed characters so we're starting off with some sketches first n will be working on a few finished pieces later. So these are some of the sketches that turned out ok. Some didn't and will not see the light of day hahaha! Heres the link if you want to follow the progress of Team Banana!

Mother and...

This is something I did for the ConceptArt.Org 'Newborn' contest. My idea was originally a group of space explorers coming across an alien temple and discovering a shrine and a angelic being holding a child. Those were the sketches but since then I changed my idea into a mother and child. The baby was born into the world a demon (think Rosemary's baby). He may be perceived as evil by his appearance but this is just the way was created. Is there a good heart in this demonic shell or is he truly evil?

Graduated!

Graduated not too long ago :D Looking forward to whats next...

Complete!!!!!!!!

Today we finished the film!!!!!!!!!!!! Well.... we finished all the animation, colouring, compositing etc... just need to put them together and with the credits and thats it. But the actual work is all done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The film is on the AIB exhibition but you will have to wait a while (a year or two) before it can go online. Maybe a trailer is in order? Anyway, these are our exhibit posters decorated with the work produced by my wonderous team members and photos of the crew!
Its been a tough road, lots of work, lots of fun, lots of highs and lots of lows (sometimes :P) but I am thrilled we pulled through together in the end. I could not have done this film without my hard working teammates and they have helped to keep the enthusiasm, standard and workrate high throughout the year. I wish you all good luck with your future projects!

ImagineFX

This week, my work appeared in ImagineFX magazine. It is a really nice digital painting and cg magazine and I ws very excited to hear my work was accepted for the reader's gallery. Its been a week of good news mixed with hardship as me and my crew try to finish off the film. We are all tired now and in need of a well earned rest :P But Im hoping that my rest wouldn't be for too long...

A Dominant Force

My entry to the Dominance War IV art contest. I had fun thumbnailing the idea, the subject matter was a bit tricky at first because it was easy to go crazy and make a messy design. But I tried to play with thesilhouette to come up with some strong shapes. It is also pretty fun to take part of a competition representing a team. I am helping to fly the flag for the CGHub crew. Hope we do well :D
In other news... We are nearing the end of the grad film. Still a lot of work to do which means working from 9am-9pm most weekdays from the third years on the team. I am quite lucky to have such dedicated team members working alongside me. I am also proud of the first years we took on too! They are under no obligation to work for us but they stuck with the team and kept asking for more work no matter how tedious it may be. I cant wait to see the finished film myself. It is looking exciting. Sometimes you may feel a bit of pressure but then there is a lot of reward that comes out of it. There has been hardship the team had to endure but I think we are doing well under such pressure and continuing to work together with enthusiasm and determination. I am very proud of the team!

Enter Kung Fu Romance

I have finished the layouts for my grad film... well sort of... I am in the middle of fine-tuning them actually but they are all more or less completed. I now help out in the tracing stage of the animation. The project is coming together and the end is nearing ever closer. The second years of my course has just finished pitching their ideas for next year's films and we will find out tomorrow who goes through. There has been some great ideas that I myself would be quite excited to work on. I enjoyed watching the pitches and I think I know where my votes will be heading ;)
